Planted in our Orchard to celebrate the Coronation of King Charles III (funded by the Coronation Living Heritage Fund). Trained as an espalier. This old French variety was raised in 1825 by M. Fievee at Maubeauge and introduced to Britain 75 years ago. A green-yellow, rounded dessert fruit with russet skin and sweet, melting, aromatic flesh. The trees are small, with a neat habit and are hardy, fruiting reliably. Ripe in September or early October. Heavy cropper. For the best tasting fruits, pick them just before they're ready and leave them to ripen in a bowl.
