Planting Position

Planted in our Orchard to celebrate the Coronation of King Charles III (funded by the Coronation Living Heritage Fund). Trained as an espalier and selected for its hardy nature and tolerance of shaded positions.

This variety is a cross between Williams Bon Chretien and Conference. A heavy cropping, good quality pear. The flesh is yellowish-white fine, slightly gritty near the core and with a sweet juicy flavour rich with a hint of musk. It was raised in 1920 at the Long Aston research centre and introduced in 1931. Grown commercially on a small scale in the past.
